How to begin a Meditation Practice
At anchor, you can find yourself in the perfect, quiet setting. Here, surrounded by the scents and gentle sounds of nature, you will find an easy doorway to a meditation practice.
Take the time to find a comfortable spot, either on deck or in the cockpit. Choose a time of day (early morning or dusk is best) when it isn't too hot. Sit comfortably and support yourself with cushions. You don't need to sit cross legged if it isn't comfortable but do try to keep your back straight. In the beginning you can sit for just a short time - 10 minutes or so - and gradually work up to half an hour. Its good to use a timer, so that your mind will relax knowing that something else is keeping the time. Be patient. In the beginning the mind will jump around, but with a little practice you will slowly find the inner silence. When you finish, try to take a few minutes to open your eyes and gradually come back to the "outer world".
