"The Buddha, the Godhead, resides quite as comfortably in the circuits of a digital computer or the gears of a cycle transmission as he does at the top of the mountain, or in the petals of a flower."

Boat Maintenance
Ever since I was a young boy I’ve had an interest in how things work. Whether I was rummaging through bins at the back of a local electronics store or attempting to build something in my grandfather’s carpentry shop, I found pleasure in the technical process. When we bought our first boat several different aspects of my life came together. Now I had one big playground where I could take things apart and fix them at my own will. When we became liveaboard sailors, my boat became my ashram. I am most peaceful when I am sailing or fixing something on my boat.
I began my career in boat maintenance doing fiberglass repairs and refinishing steel and wooden boat hulls. More recently, I have been asked to sort out faulty systems and get them running smoothly; requests that have led me to many rewiring and plumbing jobs. Often I am hired to install new electronic equipment and to interface it with other boat systems.
Crazy as it may sound, I enjoy boat maintenance. Our years living on the Red Sea, far from boat chandleries and general supply centers, have sharpened my troubleshooting skills. When there is no one to ask, you quickly learn to figure things out on your own. In the past few years I have built and installed several marine air conditioning systems and marine refrigerators. Recently my interest has been drawn to alternative energy systems that allow cruising sailors the independence and freedom to sail further away from full service marinas.
I enjoy acting as a mentor for sailors who wish to learn to maintain their own boats but need a guiding hand. This site will soon allow sailors around the globe to contact me for online mentoring.
My international technical qualifications and licenses include: Electrician, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and Marine Mechanic.
